Marli is a South-African born artist currently residing in Canada. She found her love for art at a young age in the form of drawing that became her lifelong hobby, along with discovering artists’ acrylics and oil paints there was no turning back. In spite of her love for art, she graduated as a Graphic Designer from the University of Pretoria in pursued of a “real” career until she became a full time artist in recent years. To better herself in her skill, she learns new methods and techniques from online resources and continuous workshops.
As a realist, Marli mostly works with oil paints and charcoal on a variety of surfaces – painting and drawing portraits, animals, still lifes, vintage cars and landscapes. The subject matter will determine the best suited medium and substrate to express the essence of its character.
With her work expressing the things she loves about her environment and the people she meets from all the corners of the world, Marli expects her audience to be empathetic to each subjects’ emotions, appreciate the landscapes in all its complexity and enjoy the uniqueness and quirkiness of each animal.
Her artwork can be found in a variety of private collections across the world.
